PFL 2018: Ceres Negros edges out anew Davao Aguilas

After its hurtful 2-0 loss against Kaya-Iloilo Football Club (FC) recently, reigning champion Ceres Negros Football Club made two straight wins against Davao Aguilas FC in the ongoing Philippine Football League (PFL) 2018.

On Wednesday night, the home team won anew against the visiting team in a 2-1 match held at Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

On May 23, Ceres was able to regain the top spot in the league after shutting down Davao Aguilas in a 3-0 match also in the former’s home court.

Davao Aguilas’ James Younghusband first scored during the 14th minute of the first half. Ceres Negros, however, equaled the opponent through a goal made by Carli de Murga in the 25th minute.

“It is very difficult for us because we are playing every three days. We don’t have time for training and rest,” Ceres head coach Risto Vidakovic, in a post-match press conference, said.

Reichelt, who was the man of the match, said it took them for a while to show focus.

“With our tight schedule, it is excusable that we cannot be fully 100 percent. Still the team showed character in the end and we got another win at home,” he added.

For his part, Davao Aguilas FC coach Melchor Anzures said the team played well but unfortunately, some errors cost them the game like on the finishing touches and passes.

“The boys did not surrender until the end. They still played well for me,” Anzures added.

Ceres Negros FC currently has a total of 28 points. They are scheduled to play against the second in standing Kaya FC at the Iloilo Sports Stadium in Iloilo City on Saturday, June 9. — LA, GMA News
