Yuka Saso becomes first Filipina to win in Japan LPGA Tour, rules NEC tournament

Asian Games gold medalist and golfer Yuka Saso achieved another feat for the Philippines as she became the first Filipina to win in the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association (JLPGA) Tour on Sunday.

The Fil-Japanese golfer ruled the NEC Karuizawa tournament held in the Nagano Prefecture in Japan.

"Marking 63 with 1 eagle and 7 birdies, it was an overwhelming victory with 4 strokes ahead of 2nd place," the JLPGA said on its website.

Saso will bring home ¥14,400,000 or at least P6.5million.

Saso won the gold medal in the individual women's golf tournament of the 2018 Asian Games. She was also a part of the team that bagged a gold medal in the team golf event of the Asiad. — LA, GMA News
