Azkals fall to host Singapore to open AFF Suzuki Cup bid

The Philippine Azkals fell to host Singapore, 2-1, to start its campaign in the 2020 AFF Suzuki Cup on Wednesday at the National Stadium, Singapore.

After a goalless first half for both squads, Hariss Harun converted the breakthrough point in the 61st minute to give the home team a 1-0 advantage over the Filipinos.

Just barely three minutes later, winger Faris Ramli made it a 2-0 cushion for the Singaporeans after completing a goal at the 63rd mark.

United City FC's midfielder Amin Nazari then gave the Philippines its first goal in the 69th minute but that would do it for the visiting squad as Singapore secured the victory.

Singapore now leads Group A with a clean 2-0-0 slate while the Philippines is at fourth place with a 0-0-1 win-draw-loss card.

The Philippines will next face Timor Leste on Saturday, December 11, at 5:30 p.m.
