Philippines retains hold of Group A top spot with four-goal win vs. Malaysia


The Philippines continued its dominant run in the 2022 AFF Women's Championship after trouncing Malaysia, 4-0, on Friday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

Sara Eggesvik made the first goal at 32' with a long strike, while Katrina Guillou quickly doubled the score with a goal at the 43' mark from close range.

After a 2-0 lead at the half, the Filipinas continued its scoring spree as Quinley Quezada made the third goal at the 48th minute. Anika Castañeda put the cherry on top with a goal at the 73' mark.

With the win, the Filipinas retained its hold of the top spot in Group A after its 1-0 win over Australia and seven-goal win over Singapore. They will see action again on Sunday when they play Indonesia.
