Returning Azkals coach Michael Weiss looks to get good start with upcoming friendlies
Returning Philippine national men's football team head coach Michael Weiss said the Azkals should win their upcoming friendlies to get their program started on the right foot.
"We have to get the best possible start with two wins," Weiss told reporters on Thursday at the PFF House of Football in Pasig.
However, time is not on their side as they have only less than a week before their first match against Nepal on June 15.
The returning coach also asked for fans' patience as they start another chapter in the Azkals program.
"The people on the boards, they sometimes complain about things which they really don't know the details [of]. I would like to ask for everyone's patience," he said.
"We have everyone on board. We are in contact with everyone. We are going now with full force."
Weiss, who signed a one-year contract with the team, is already looking forward to the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.
"For me, the November window, there we want the best possible squad that we can get," said the Azkals coach.
"We must get them ready, we must prepare them."
Aside from Nepal, the Azkals will also play Chinese Taipei in a friendly match on June 19. Both games will be played at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
