Filipinas coming in at their strongest with days left before World Cup, says Quinley Quezada
With less than a week before their debut in football's biggest stage, the Philippine national women's team is coming at their strongest, according to midfielder Quinley Quezada.
The Filipinas have been in New Zealand since July 11 for the FIFA Women's World Cup and the midfielder said there has been growth since they have started camp. She, however, admitted there are also other things to improve on.
"But as of now, I really see us coming into the tournament at our peak, at our strongest, so I'm really excited about that," Quezada said in a virtual press conference last Saturday.
While Quezada cited no specific challenges the team has been facing in training, she said the team will just get over any of it eventually.
"Just [like] with every team, we have our own struggles, issues that we go by and go through but team-wise, I feel like we're really strong," Quezada said.
"I think the main thing about our team is that we're very humble, we're very grateful, so with any struggle, with any hardship that we come across, this time, we've been able to get over it and push through," she added.
The Philippines will face Switzerland in their opening match in the World Cup on July 21.
