Philippines' team to AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup

Alexa Pino and Natalie Collins conspired to lead the Philippines to a resounding 6-1 win against Indonesia in the AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup on Monday night in Thailand.

Pino started the rampage with an early goal at the 6th minute mark before it took Jael Guy and Ariana Markey less than 15 minutes to convert another goal each as the youthful Filipinas took a commanding 3-1 lead.

The 17-year-old Pino then clinched her second goal of the night at the 35th minute while Collins scored two consecutive points as the Philippines' lead ballooned to 6-1 just minutes after the halftime break.

Indonesia's lone goal came at the 12th minute mark when Claudia Scheunemann hit their breakthrough.

The win placed the Philippines at joint first in Group A with North Korea, which earlier eked out a dominant 7-0 victory against South Korea behind the hat-trick of Jon Il-Chong.

The Filipinas will next face North Korea on Thursday, May 9, in bid to go undefeated in two games.

The top two teams from Groups A and B will advance to the semifinals with the winners sealing their place in the championship round while the losers will be relegated to the battle for bronze.
