Alexandra ‘Alex’ Eala is the highest-ranked Women’s Tennis Association player in the initial entry list for women’s singles tennis, as published on the 2026 Asian Games website.

Eala is currently the world No. 18 and will represent the Philippines in the hopes of winning a gold medal and a potential ticket to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The Philippines is in talks with the WTA regarding her participation in the Asian Games, as a penalty may be imposed because the Asian Games coincides with the WTA 1000 China Open in Beijing.

Indonesia’s Janice Tjen recently announced her decision to skip the Asian Games as she was not granted an exemption by the WTA for her possible participation in the Asiad.

Other notable players on the entry list are singles world No. 54 and doubles world No. 7 Shuai Zhang and world No. 82 Xiyu Wang of China; Eala’s Southeast Asian Games finals contender Mananchaya Sawangkaew of Thailand, currently world No. 88; and her compatriot Lanlana Tararudee, currently world No. 61.

Before the Asian Games, however, Eala is expected to play in the Singapore Tennis Open.
