Who is Diane Parry? Alex Eala's first round opponent at the Ningbo Open

Alexandra “Alex” Eala is set to face Diane Parry in the first round of the Ningbo Open.

Parry, the world No. 32, is a 24-year-old French tennis player who claimed her first WTA title last August at the Monterrey Open in Mexico.

During her title run, Parry defeated Donna Vekic, Oleksandra Oliynykova, Clara Tauson, Ann Li, and Elise Mertens to secure the championship.

Parry, who started playing tennis at the age of five, is coming off Round of 64 exits at the Wuhan Open, where she lost to Thailand’s Lanlana Tararudee, and the China Open, where she fell to Australia’s Taylah Preston.

She has competed in Grand Slam tournaments since 2019, with more consistent appearances beginning in 2022.

This year, Parry reached the Round of 16 at the French Open and the Round of 64 at both Wimbledon and the US Open.

Eala, meanwhile, is also looking to bounce back after recent setbacks. She suffered a Round of 64 exit against Han Shi in Wuhan and a Round of 16 loss to Tatiana Prozorova in Singapore.
