Lesnar announces retirement after loss to Overeem in UFC 141

Brock Lesnar announced his retirement from the world of mixed martial arts right after losing to Alistair Overeem in their heavyweight bout in UFC 141 Friday night at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
The 6-foot-5 Overeem marked his UFC debut with a first-round technical knockout win. He ended the fight with a vicious kick to Lesnar's liver in 2:26 mark of the opening round sending the 34-year-old former pro-wrestling star scrambling to the cage and forcing the referee to stop the fight.
Lesnar, who had just come back after being sidelined for 14 months by injuries, said that his return to the ring was his last. "I've had a really difficult couple of years with my disease, and I'm going to officially say tonight is the last time," said Lesnar in an ESPN report. "This is the last time you'll see me in the octagon."

Before his fight with Overeem, Lesnar was battling diverticulitis, a lower intestinal ailment that had doctors remove 12 inches of his colon in May this year.

Lesnar said that he would still have thrown in the towel on his career had he won the match. — Lian Buan/JVP, GMA News
