Davao bet Dizon to vie for 2 age group crowns in tennis tilt
Hometown bet Jenni Dizon is in a good position to win two division titles after barging into the girls' Under-18 and -16 finals in the Davao leg of the 2012 HEAD Junior National Tennis Age-Group Satellite Circuit on Thursday at the GSIS tennis courts in Davao City. Dizon, 14, whipped Anne Castillo in their semi-final encounter to enter the girls' U18 singles, 4-1, 4-2, then made Carla Llavore her second victim in the U16 division, 4-1, 4-2. The Philippine Lawn Tennis Association shortened the scoring, race-to-four and best-of-three matches, because of rain. Dizon hopes to collect both division crowns and the junior tennis ranking points at stake. She will next face third seed Nikkirey Arandia, a 4-2, 4-1 winner over Genevieve Caorte in the U18 division, while she is scheduled to meet top seed Jzash Canja in the U16 age group. Last year's multi-leg champion Rogelio Estanio Jr. trounced Kurt Gerapusco, 6-3, 6-3, while Joel Cabusan defeated Nico Gorospe, 6-1, 6-2 to each earn quarterfinal tickets in the boys' U18 singles. — JVP, GMA News
