Golf: Faldo Series Asia to open season in Laguna
The 2012 Faldo Series Asia fires off its season-opener with the Faldo Series Philippines Championship at the up-and-down course of the TAT Filipinas Golf Club in San Pedro, Laguna from April 24 to 26. Gio Gandionco and Princess Superal are among those expected to compete over 54 holes for a chance to earn slots to the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final in Mission Hills in China next year. The tournament is open to all golfers aged 12 to 21 years old. They will be divided into five age categories—three for boys and two for girls—where the winner in each category will qualify for the World Amateur Golf Ranking event on the Faldo Course in Shenzhen. No less than Sir Nick Faldo will grace the affair with the other champions of the different legs in mainland China and others in Chinese Taipei, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Brunei, Cambodia, Nepal, India, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand. The Faldo Series Asia recently announced a record schedule for its seventh season with 18 tournaments in 15 countries across the region during the next 12 months.
