Golf: Bibat flashes consistency, but Singh still leads in Taman Dayu Championship
Michael Bibat of the Philippines continued with a consistent two-under-par 70 in the second round but Sujjan Singh of India fired a career-best nine-under-par 63 to pull further away in the inaugural Taman Dayu Championship of the Asian Development Tour in East Java, Indonesia. Even with a five-under 139 aggregate in 36 holes, Bibat was 12 strokes adrift from Singh (127), who wielded a superb putting display at the Taman Dayu Golf Club, highlighted by five straight birdies in the last five holes to extend his lead to nine midway of the $75,000 event. Local favorite Rory Hie, the first Indonesian to earn an Asian Tour card in 2009, returned with a 70 for 136 to be in second place while Anura Rohana of Sri Lanka and Michael Moore of Australia were a further shot back in third on 137s. Antonio Lascuna, winner of the ICTSI-Philippine Golf Tour’s recent leg in Manila Southwoods, came through with a 69 for 141, the same score of countryman Jay Bayron after a 72. The other Filipinos heading to the weekend rounds were Mars Pucay (70-142), James Lam (73-142), and Charles Hong (71-142). The halfway cut was set at two-over-par 146 with a total of 57 players qualifying for the last two rounds. - AMD, GMA News
