Taiwan — Jayvie Agojo of the Philippines will get her chance to play alongside the best women golfers of the world after she topped the LPGA Taiwan Championship regional qualifier on Friday. The top ICTSI-the Country Club bet closed out the 36-hole qualifier with a three-over-par 75 in tough conditions for the second straight day—at the Sunrise Golf and Country Club.

That brought her total up to 153, way ahead of Tahi Tiranan Yoopan’s 159, good for second place after shooting an 80. Agojo will get a rare stint in the $2-million LPGA tournament alongside the world number one Yani Tseng. “It feels great to get in, and even more exciting I guess during the tournament week...with the best lady golfers,” said Agojo, who won the Santi Cup in Indonesia last month. The LPGA Taiwan Championship will be from October 25 to 28 also at Sunrise. Tseng will defend her crown against a tough field including Paula Creamer, Michelle Wie, and Cristie Kerr. “They played on an even-worse condition with forecast of storm. But Jayvie held on to her game with a solid short game,” said ICTSI-TCC assistant coach Nestor Mendoza. Cyna Marie Rodriguez, bothered with the winds, made an 81 and fell one stroke short of tying Yoopan. Jessica Ang Pei of Singapore finished a distant fourth with 94 for 188.
