Golf: Ardina, Agojo seven back at Dunes Medal tourney
Australia - Dottie Ardina and Jayvie Agojo scored identical five-over-par 77's in the first round of the Dunes Medal tournament, led by local bet Minjin Lee, at the Dunes Golf Club in Victoria. Ardina, who finished as the overall net champion in last week’s Elvie Whitesides 72-Hole Stroke Play Championship, and Agojo of the ICTSI-The Country Club team, were seven behind Lee. It was another good opening day for Lee, the current US girls title-holder, who also won the overall gross plum also at Elvie Whitesides, held at the Royal Hobart Golf Club in Hobart. Other Aussie bets Oh Su-hyun (71) and Grace Lennon (72) were on second and third place, respectively. Hayley Bettencourt made a four-over-par 76 and was tied with four compatriots at fourth place. Ardina and Agojo are looking to extend the winning run of ICTSI-TCC from the Philippines. Ardina won the Penang Ladies while Princess Superal got the Melaka Amateur title this month. The Dunes, like the Elvie Whitesides, is a high-ranking event in Victoria. Players in the elite field are amateurs in the Australian National golf program. - AMD, GMA News
