MMA: Rey Docyogen’s conquerors to meet for ONE FC flyweight title

For two rounds, it appeared that Rey Docyogen was well on his way to turning the corner for Team Lakay. For two rounds it appeared that there would finally be a Filipino winner at ONE FC: Rise to Power, after Geje Eustaquio and Eduard Folayang fell to their opponents.

Sensing that he had the fight in the bag, Docyogen took his foot off the gas pedal in the third round. This allowed his opponent, Yasuhiro Urushitani, to storm right back into the fight and steal a split decision victory. Now it appears that a poor decision by Docyogen not only cost him victory, but also a title shot.

Urushitani is now scheduled to battle compatriot Shinichi Kojima on September 13 in Jakarta, Indonesia for the inaugural ONE FC flyweight title.

Kojima also holds a victory over Docyogen. He defeated the Team Lakay member at ONE FC: Return of Warriors via guillotine choke.

“ONE FC will be back in Jakarta on September 13 with a stacked fight card that is sure to get the adrenaline pumping for the passionate Indonesian fight fans," said Victor Cui, ONE FC’s CEO. “This event is one of the largest sporting events in the history of Indonesia and features the two best flyweights in Asia squaring off with the first ONE FC Flyweight World Championship title belt on the line.”

Since his debut in 2001, Urushitani has racked up a record of 20 wins, six losses, and six draws. Kojima on the other hand holds a record of 13 wins, five losses, and five draws. The two Japanese fighters have already fought each other twice, with both fights ending in a draw. they will complete their trilogy on September 13 in Indonesia and this time it will be for the right to be called the ONE FC flyweight champion.

In the undercard, the brewing mixed martial arts rivalry between Malaysia and Indonesia will witness two new matches as Indonesia’s Stefer Rahardian and Vincent Majid face Malaysia’s Raymond Tan and Eugenio Tan, respectively. The card will be held at the 15,000-seater Istora Senayan in Jakarta. - CLP, GMA News
