V-League: Gonzaga, Balse combine for 27 as Army rolls through Air Force

 

Jovelyn Gonzaga had 16 points while Mary Jean Balse added 11 as a strong Army super-six defeated Philippine Air Force in straight sets, 25-13 25-22 25-18, on Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

 

Army only played with their starting six, but it was enough to put away Air Force. Judy Ann Caballejo stuggled with only four points as Jay Cases and Jennifer Manzano pitched in nine each. Maika Ortiz added eight, but none of the players of coach Clarence Esteban registered double-figures scoring-wise.

 

Gonzaga got her points both on offense and defense, registering nine kills and six blocks. Balse had four service aces. - GMA News
