V-League: Cagayan Valley Rising Suns sink Philippine Navy

The Philippine Navy could not stay afloat in their debut game in the Shakey's V-League Open Conference, thanks to a rout at the hands of the Cagayan Valley Rising Suns, 25-12 25-12 25-16, Friday at the FilOil Flying V Arena.

Cagayan stayed undefeated in the tourney with a 3-0 record, while Navy began with one in the loss column.

The one-sided rout saw Maria Angeli Tabaquero and Aizo Maizo stamp their mark on the game with dominant performances. Team captain Tabaquero scored a game-high 13 points, 12 coming off spikes, while Maizo added 12 markers, 10 via spikes.

The Navy on the other hand did not have a player score more than six points, as Cecile Cruzada led the way with five points coming from spikes and one more from a serve. Maria Praca and Michelle Laborte chimed in with five apiece. - AMD, GMA News
