Golf: Que prepares to battle greats at Omega European Masters

Angelo Que is hoping to match or even improve on his finish four years ago when he joins an elite cast in the $2.8-million Omega European Masters at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Crans Montana, Switzerland.

Que, a three-time Asian Tour champion, wound up tying for seventh place in 2009 at the majestic course of Crans-sur-Sierre, where he outplayed some of the world's best golfers.

Though he considers that finish as a lucky one, the 34-year-old Filipino is confident of another good showing this year in the tournament co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour.

"It’s going to be hard to do better than that especially with the strong field in such a big event this week,” said Que.

“But having said that, my goal is to finish top-10 and if I can do that, it will be a great week for me,” Que added.

Que qualified for the Euro Masters after landing the second and third spots in the Philippine swing of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) developmental league.

“I was first reserve last week and now that I’m in, I’m aiming to get more world ranking points so that I can also earn my place in the World Cup of Golf later this year,” he added.

From the ADT, he earned six Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points, making a big leap to his current 353rd position in the world rankings.

The Asian Tour will be represented by 25 Asian Tour winners, including merit champions, India’s Jeev Milkha Singh and Thailand’s Thaworn Wiratchant and Thongchai Jaidee. - RAF, GMA News
