V-League: Air Force survives five-set thriller against Meralco

Their last elimination round match turned out to be their most difficult.

The Philippine Air Force needed five sets to overcome a relentless Meralco squad, eventually carving out a 25-20 12-25 23-25 25-23 15-10 triumph, Friday at the FilOil Flying V Arena, in the Shakey's V-League Season 10 Open Conference.

The win gave Air Force a 5-2 card at the end of the elimination round, while Meralco settled for 3-4, despite having score more points in total than their foes in this match, 103-100.

Judy Ann Caballejo soared for the Air Force, bringing in 26 points, all but three on spikes. Joy Cases and Maika Ortiz chipped in 14 and 13, respectively, six total via blocks, while Wendy Semana also scored in double-figures with 12.

Coco Wang had 26 to lead Meralco, while Fille Cainglet managed 13. Meralco also boasted of a 35-28 difference in points off opponents' errors, but it still wasn't enough, as they came up short in the deciding set. - AMD, GMA News
