MMA legend Ken Shamrock to fight in bare knuckle boxing

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock is set to venture the dangerous sport of bare knuckle boxing this coming April in the United Kingdom.

Shamrock's shocking announcement caught the public off-guard, leaving many people to ponder why the 51-year-old MMA legend would even entertain the thought of competing in an illegal sport.

"Of course I’m doing it for the money,” Shamrock told mmajunkie.com.

“Who isn’t in it for the money? What’s wrong with people? How do you live in this world if you aren’t out to make money? This is how I make my money!”

Shamrock is most remembered for his legendary MMA run that stretches beginning in 1990s. He competed in UFC's first ever event, won the organization's first "superfight" championship, and fought fellow legends Royce Gracie, Dan Severn and Tito Ortiz.

He retired from MMA in 2010 when he suffered a defeat and a leg injury within the first two minutes of his fight against Mike Bourke.

He is tasked to face the "king" of bare knuckle boxing James Quinn in a yet to be disclosed venue and exact date. —JST, GMA News
