Jaja Santiago stood tallest at the end of the Shakey's V-League Season 12 Open Conference on Sunday, winning finals Most Valuable Player honors after helping PLDT Home Ultera survive an epic five-set match against Philippine Army.

Santiago contributed 17 points for PLDT, in support of tournament MVP Alyssa Valdez's 29. More importantly, the 6-foot-5 National University stalwart was the lynchpin of the PLDT defense at the net, blocking and changing up the vaunted Army attacks throughout the series.

In fact, a block from Santiago gave the Ultra-fast Spikers the winning point, sealing a magical run that saw the team lost just one -- Game One of the finals -- all tournament long. -- JST, GMA News
