SEA Games: Triathlete Claire Adorna bags Philippines' first gold


The Philippines tallied its first gold medal in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games when Ma. Claire Adorna bagged first place in women's triathlon on Saturday.

Adorna clocked in at 2:13:08, slightly ahead of compatriot Marion Kim Mangrobang who finished at 2:14:26 to notch the silver medal.

Thailand's Sanruthai Arunsiri, who won the bronze, was a good nine minutes behind Mangrobang.

Meanwhile, Hermie Macaranas grabbed two bronze medals in canoeing, finishing behind Myanmar and Indonesia in men's C1-1000m and men's C2-1000m with Ojay Fuentes.

The Philippines now has one gold, four silver, and three bronze medals to improve to fourth place behind host Singapore, Vietnam, and powerhouse Thailand. - JST, GMA News
