Pinoy MMA fighter Eric Kelly explains why he's not with Team Lakay
By JM SIASAT, GMA News
He's from Baguio City, his brother Edward is training with Team Lakay, but there are reasons why Filipino mixed martial arts standout Eric Kelly is not with the country's premiere MMA training camp.
Kelly, 33, has long been hailed as the greatest product of Philippine MMA. And yet, he's still yet to find a permanent training camp when preparing for an upcoming fight.
"If I joined Team Lakay, I think I won't be allowed to train in another gym," Kelly explained.
"I'm 33 years old, I'm nearing my retirement so I want to acquire more knowledge from various gyms."
Kelly has nothing but kind words and praises for Baguio City's highly regarded Team Lakay, but says his training style and outgoing nature is what's preventing him from committing himself to a sole training camp.
"I'm an adventurer, I want to experience it all so I don't want to get tied training in one gym," says Kelly.
"Team Lakay has the most dominant fighters in the Philippines, I want to go there but I don't want to be controlled because I'm like a kid who wants to be everywhere." — APG, GMA News
