McGregor releases statement after announcing 'retirement'

Irish mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor went into details on why he made a surprising announcement to "retire" earlier this week ahead of his rematch with Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 200 on July 9 (July 10 PHL time) in Las Vegas.

McGregor has caught the MMA world by surprise when he tweeted on Tuesday (Wednesday morning PHL time) that he has decided to retire at a young age. UFC President Dana White, then announced on ESPN that McGregor is out of the promotion's blockbuster card.

In the face of criticism from the fans and media, McGregor took to social media again to elaborate his move. He clarified that he's not retired, but aired his grievances towards the promotion and how his career is being handled.
