Video on Brock Lesnar's return to UFC, narrated by Anthony Bourdain
On Sunday, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar will return to the octagon to challenge Samoan knockout artist Mark Hunt in the co-main event of UFC 200.
Lesnar's career in MMA has always been controversial with MMA fans and purists owing to his WWE pedigree, but the athlete surprised many with his win over Randy "The Natural" Couture for the UFC Heavyweight Championship in 2008.
Fittingly enough, his journey back to the octagon was narrated by celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, another MMA outsider who recently proved his place in combat sports by winning the IBJJF New York Spring International Open Championship.
The feature on Lesnar's training is part of UFC 200: It's Time, a 45-minute documentary narrated by Bourdain for the historic event.
In the video, Bourdain narrates the highs of the Beast's three year career and his fight with diverticulitis, an abdominal disease that eventually lead to his retirement from the octagon in 2011.
"The illness had beaten me and I couldn't be the guy that I needed to be in the octagon," Lesnar explained in the documentary.
"That chapter in my life- I didn't like the way that chapter ended so I couldn't continue the book and move forward," he added.
Fighting with the "biggest pay-per-view" draw of the UFC in the co-main event are light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and interim Jon Jones, whose rivalry takes up a sizable chunk of the in-depth video package.
In the undercard, former champions Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar will compete for the interim featherweight belt while bantamweight champion Miesha Tate fights against Amanda Nunes. —JST, GMA News
