Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has been tapped as a late replacement to face light heavyweight title holder Daniel Cormier in a three-round non-title fight on UFC 200 on July 9 (July 10 PHL time) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Cormier (17-1) was originally slated to defend his title against Jon Jones, but the latter was pulled out of the card three days before the fight for a potential anti-doping violation.

UFC president Dana White made the surprising announcement himself on social media, revealing that Silva is in fact fighting Cormier on two days' notice.

Though coming off a defeat in his last fight, Silva is touted by many as the greatest fighter of all time in mixed martial arts holding a record of 33-7 and 1 no contest. —JM Siasat/JST, GMA News
