Lesnar to earn highest guaranteed purse in UFC history

MANILA — Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is set to pocket the highest guaranteed purse in UFC history for his return inside the octagon against Mark Hunt on UFC 200 later today at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Lesnar, 38, last figured in a mixed martial arts contest in 2011 when he was defeated by Alistair Overeem by a first round knockout.

Five years after that bitter loss, Lesnar will return to the cage for a guaranteed payday of $2.5 million as declared by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

It is the highest guaranteed prize money ever to be paid by the UFC, with Conor McGregor coming in at second for his $1 million guaranteed purse from his fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 196.

Lesnar vs. Hunt is slated to feature in the co-main event while Tate vs. Nunes has been tapped to headline the show. —ALG, GMA News
