US skater wins Four Continents short program; PHL's Martinez is 14th

American skater Nathan Chen won the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2017 short program, held this Friday in Gangneung, South Korea, while the Philippine's Michael Martinez came in 14th.

 

Chen scored 103.12 points, Japan's Shoma Uno (Japan) came in second with 100.28 points, and third placer Yuzuru Hanyu, also from Japan, scored 97.04.

 

Martinez scored 72.47.

 

The  Four Continents championship will serve as the figure skating test event for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. — DVM, GMA News
