Folayang is the best Filipino MMA fighter – Ting
MAKATI - He's yet to experience how it's like to face Eduard Folayang inside the cage, but Malaysia's lightweight contender Ev Ting is already convinced that the Filipino ONE lightweight champion is the best Filipino mixed martial arts fighter from the Philippines.
Notorious for defeating notable Pinoy fighters such as former ONE featherweight champion Honorio Banario, Eric and Edward Kelly, Ting is scheduled to challenge Folayang for the world title on April 21 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
"Oh absolutely," answered Ting when asked if he feels that Folayang is the best among his Filipino foes.
"First of all Eduard Folayang is a very respected champion, I would say he's the prototype of all the Filipinos I've faced. He has improved every single fight and he has more to fight for now specially here in his hometown."
Ting said that Folayang had upped his fight game in every contest, and acknowledged that the Filipino fighter was no longer the same one-dimensional striker from years ago.
"I feel his adaptability [sets him apart from other Filipino fighters]," Ting quipped.
"He showed that very well in the Shinya Aoki fight, he was very patient, took his time, he capitalized then finished Shinya. He's very adaptable." — DVM, GMA News
