Robin Catalan dominates Stefer Rahardian in Jakarta

MANILA - Filipino strawweight Robin Catalan delivered what could be his most impressive performance to date following a unanimous decision victory over Stefer Rahardian on the undercard of "ONE: Eternal Glory" Saturday night at Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Catalan started the contest with swift leg kicks and hard right hands that found its mark on Rahardian. The local fighter tried to get the fight on the mat, but Catalan's improved takedown defense was something Rahardian failed to overcome.

Rahardian fought on his feet in round two, and was made to pay by Catalan in the striking department. It was also on the same round that Catalan landed a huge right hand and a takedown which put him ahead on the scorecards.

It was all Catalan in round three, as he repeatedly landed his leg kicks on a seemingly puzzled Rahardian. The Filipino also mixed up his offense and was able to score a massive slam before the final bell.

After three five-minute rounds, all three judges scored the fight for Catalan. He improved his record to 9-4 while Rahardian fell to 8-3. — DVM, GMA News
