Double bronze for PHL as men's team beats Singapore in beach volleyball

The Philippine beach volleyball teams completed a double bronze finish in the Southeast Asian Games on Friday at the Subic Tennis Center.

The duo of Jaron Requinton and Jude Garcia swept Singapore's Trevis Tan and Kingsley Tay in the golden match, 25-23, 21-13, to snatch the bronze medal in the men's division.

In the golden match, a coach can choose any player to field in, regardless of previous pairings.

In the first match, Requinton and James Buytrago fell against Tay and Shen Fan Yang, 20-22, 22-20, 15-7.

Team Philippines bounced back in the second match as Garcia and Edmar Bonono swept Singapore’s duo Nicholas Kiu and Trevis Tan, 21-14, 21-14, forcing the golden match.

Requinton was emotional after the win. This is the Philippines' first SEA Games medal in men's beach volleyball.
