Agatha Wong: My last name's Chinese and yet I am a Filipina more than anything

Wushu athlete Agatha Wong already bagged two gold medals for the Philippines in the Southeast Asian Games, but it seems like some people credited her Chinese roots for her victory.

In a tweet Saturday, Wong showed pride in being a Filipina.

"My last name’s Chinese & yet I am a Filipina; more than anything," she said. "I was born in the Philippines, grew up in the ph & represent the Philippines wherever I go. Mahal ko ang bayan ko," the wushu sensation added.

"So don’t tell me I’m Chinese kaya ako nanalo. Nanalo ako dahil Pilipino ako, at lalaban ako," Wong proudly said.

Wong bagged the gold medals in the women's taolu taijiquan and taolu taijijian events. She also won a gold in the 2017 edition of the regional tourney.
