'I'm proud of him,' Dutch GF says of surf hero Roger Casugay

Even before making headlines in the Southeast Asian Games surfing competition, Roger Casugay already made waves online with his inspiring love story featured on "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho."

Roger won acclaim last week after rescuing his Indonesian competitor during the longboard event in La Union.

Aside from winning hearts of Filipino fans, Roger ended up winning the gold medal in the competition.

And the person happiest for him? His girlfriend, Dutch national Lisa Verweij.

"Now he showed his performance so I'm really happy. I'm proud of him," she said in a report on 24 Oras by Jun Veneracion.
