Conor McGregor at his best for Donald Cerrone fight, says coach
It has been more than a year since former UFC featherweight and lightweight world champion Conor McGregor set foot inside the cage, but there would be no such thing as ring rust when he takes on Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, his coach said.
The two ares scheduled to meet in the 170-pound welterweight division on January 18 (January 19, PHL time) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Jan 1st, last heavy spar today before going to Vegas," twitted McGregor's coach John Kavanagh.
"Can honestly say this is the best I've seen him and I wasn't sure that was possible to do 6 months ago. You guys are in for a real treat, I'm just glad to have a good seat."
In his last outing, McGregor suffered a fourth-round submission loss at the hands of the current UFC lightweight world champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229 in October 2018.
He last won a fight in 2016 at UFC 205 when he defeated Eddie Alvarez via second-round technical knockout. — BM, GMA News
