WWE legend Undertaker announces retirement

The era of “The Undertaker” has come to an end — or so it may seem.

In a recently-released docu-series titled “Undertaker: The Last Ride,” the WWE legend, whose real name is Mark Calaway, got emotional as he talked about the grim possibility of getting back in the ring.

"Never say never, but, at this point in my life and in my career, I have no desire to get back in the ring," the wrestler says.

Calaway stops in the middle of an interview to say: “I have a pit in my stomach right now" and took a deep breath.

“I’m at a point… this time the cowboy really rides away," he finishes.

The Undertaker has won multiple titles and a series of 21 straight victories in WWE's annual flagship event Wrestlemania.

WWE confirmed Calaway's retirement by posting a final “thank you” to The Undertaker on social media.

WWE also posted a tweet with the hashtag #ThankYouTaker.

WWE's post prompted an army of fans to profess their love for the wrestling legend, whose signature "undead" persona got fans riled up whenever the bells tolled at his entrance.

Fans also thanked The Undertaker for all the memorable matches he has given them throughout the years.

As Clarence, a Pinoy fan who watched him fight for the past 17 years, would say: "He’s done it all, given it all, and has nothing left to prove in the ring." — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
