Ex-UFC fighter Arjan Bhullar eager to take Brandon Vera’s ONE heavyweight belt

Arjan Bhullar believes that he will be the first to give a real test to ONE heavyweight world champion Brandon Vera in the heavyweight division of ONE Championship.

Bhullar fought in the UFC from 2017 to 2019 and has compiled a 3-1 record in the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion. He defeated one-time title challenger Mauro Cerilli via unanimous decision in his ONE Championship debut last October 2019.

It was a good enough performance to earn him a shot at Vera’s gold-plated strap, and Bhullar has already studied his foe ahead of the showdown.

“His strengths are clear. He has a tremendous amount of experience and has seen all the different looks a fighter can see in the cage. He can fight out of both stances, going forward and backward. He is well-rounded everywhere, and has excellent Muay Thai,” he said.

“That has allowed him to finish every single heavyweight threat he has faced but none of those guys were named Arjan Singh Bhullar, nor bring what I do to the Circle.”

In his last outing, Vera was beaten to a pulp by a middleweight in Aung La N Sang when the latter successfully defended his ONE light heavyweight world title by way of second-round technical knockout last October.

Bhullar hopes to Aung La’s success, stressing his strengths and advantages over the Filipino-American.

“I’m younger. I’m hungrier to get what I haven’t yet. I have been pursuing the opportunity to be a world champion since I was in diapers,” he iterated.

“I am a lifelong athlete who still lives and breathes competition to the fullest. I don’t have any other distractions or priorities in my life.”
