Adesanya and Costa get heated in weigh-in face-offs for UFC 253
Things got heated between UFC middleweight world champion Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa during the weigh-in ceremony of UFC 253 which is set to take place on September 27 (PHL time) at Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
The unbeaten contender Costa (13-0) brandished his black belt during the face-off then handed Adesanya (19-0) a white belt.
The champion retaliated by throwing the belt back at Costa but UFC president Dana White was quick to separate the two before it got out of hand.
Adesanya officially weighed-in at 184 pounds while Costa tipped the scale at 185 pounds.
The two are scheduled to headline UFC’s return to Fight Island.
The vacant UFC light heavyweight world title is on the line in the co-main event as both Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz both weighed-in within the division’s 205-pound limit.
