Conor McGregor gets fight date for Dustin Poirier fight
Former UFC featherweight and lightweight world champion Conor McGregor will have to wait until 2021 before he gets to fight inside the octagon again.
The Irish mixed martial arts superstar has agreed to take on former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier but demanded that the fight be held on November 21.
Unfortunately for McGregor, all dates have been fully booked by the UFC until the end of the year.
“We offered him a fight. We didn't have a date this year. We have everything laid out for this year, with world champions fighting for titles,” UFC president Dana White told ESPN.
“He wants to fight Dustin Poirier apparently, so we went to ESPN and got him his own date. He's been offered Dustin Poirier on January 23.”
The prospective bout between McGregor and Poirier would be their second meeting inside the cage.
They initially locked horns in 2014 on the undercard of UFC 178 where McGregor triumphed by way of first-round technical knockout.
Whether the rematch happens or not, all depends on McGregor.
“It's a yes or no answer,” White insisted. -- BAP, GMA News
