Conor McGregor accepts Dustin Poirier fight for January, says Manny Pacquiao is next

Former UFC featherweight and lightweight world champion Conor McGregor has accepted UFC’s offer to fight Dustin Poirier on Jan. 23, 2021.

“I accept, January 23rd is on! My goal is to see this fight take place in Cowboy stadium. Proper Style! Jerry Jones is a friend and the stadium can hold our crowd,” McGregor wrote on Twitter.

The 32-year-old McGregor wanted to fight in November but was told by the UFC that all events are booked until the end of the year and were given a take it or leave it offer for 2021.

His opponent, Dustin Poirier, is the former UFC interim lightweight champion. They previously shared the cage in 2014 at UFC 178 where McGregor won by technical knockout in round one.

And while the Irish mixed martial arts superstar seems headed to the octagon next, he still has his eyes set on fighting Manny Pacquiao in a boxing ring next year.
