Conor McGregor's next fight is just a matter of getting contracts signed, says UFC president

Former UFC featherweight and lightweight world champion Conor McGregor only has to sign the dotted line to make his next fight official, according to UFC president Dana White.

The Irish mixed martial arts superstar and former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier have agreed to square-off in a rematch on January 23, 2021.

“He (McGregor) said yes and Dustin said yes so now it’s a matter of getting contracts signed,” White told the media at Fight Island.

McGregor also suggested that the fight be held at the 80,000-seater AT&T Stadium in Texas though that is unlikely to happen according to White.

“Listen, we’ve had a very good relationship with [Jerry] Jones for a long time and talked about Dallas, Texas, stadium forever,” he shared.

“I’m not going into any arena where we’re going to fill a quarter of the arena or half of the arena or any of that stuff. So when crowds are ready to come back we’ll do crowds again.”

The 32-year-old McGregor last saw action in January against Donald Cerrone where he won via technical knockout in the first round.

Talks of a fight between him and Pacquiao erupted last month after both camps confirmed that they are negotiating for a potential showdown in 2021.

While McGregor seems to be headed back to the octagon for his next bout, he also stressed that he plans to take on the Filipino next after that.

“I will be ready for Texas and Texas will be ready for my fans! Then Manny,” he tweeted. -- BAP, GMA News
