Amanda Nunes pulls out of title defense at UFC 256

Two-division women’s UFC world champion Amanda Nunes has pulled out of her next fight against Megan Anderson, according to a report by ESPN.

The Brazilian was scheduled to defend her UFC featherweight world title against Anderson on Dec. 13 (Philippine time) in Las Vegas.

It is unclear why the champ, touted as the greatest woman of all time in mixed martial arts, has withdrawn from the fight. UFC is yet to make an official announcement either.

“Wishing Amanda a speedy recovery. UFC is rescheduling the bout for a date early next year. The goal remains the same we’ll be ready,” Anderson tweeted.

Nunes, 32, is unbeaten since 2015 and is riding an eleven-fight winning streak. She holds a record of 20-4 and has notable wins over Ronda Rousey, Valentina Shevchenko, Miesha Tate, Cyborg, and Holly Holm.

Anderson, meanwhile, is coming off two straight wins where she both won in the opening round. She holds a mixed martial arts record of 11-4. – JM Siasat/RC, GMA News
