Wesley So defeats birthday boy Magnus Carlsen in Skilling Open


Wesley So spoiled Magnus Carlsen's 30th birthday after defeating the world champion in the Skilling Open finals on Tuesday.

Carlsen won the first game of their match but fell short in the final playoff after So pulled off victories from Games 2 and 3.

With the victory, So will bring home the top prize of $30,000.

Last year, the Filipino-American grandmaster also defeated Carlsen to claim the World Fischer Random Chess Championship.
