James De Los Santos beats Guinness record holder to win 25th gold medal in e-kata
James De Los Santos snared his 25th gold medal in online kata after beating Botond Nagy of Hungary, a Guinness world record holder.
The Filipino karateka defeated Nagy 24.9 to 24.5 in the Katana Intercontinental League #4 E-Tournament on Tuesday.
The Hungarian, who is no. 34 in the Olympic ranking, set the record for the the fastest roundhouse kick in karate in 2018.
"I would have to admit that this match meant a lot to me because my final opponent is Hungary's best Senior Male Kata player," De Los Santos wrote on Facebook.
"Even though I emerged victorious, it was a very tough fight and an honor to be facing a kata player of such caliber," he added.
