Archand Bagsit, partially blind Pinoy trackster, aims to qualify for Tokyo Paralympic Games

Filipino trackster and 2013 Southeast Asian Games double gold medalist Archand Christian Bagsit is aiming to qualify for the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics.

The 29-year-old runner is partially blind but previously represented the country as a regular athlete despite the challenges of his disability.

According to Chino Trinidad's report on "24 Oras," AC is currently working on getting his official classification in the T-12 category for partially blind athletes.

"Bilang dating regular athlete parang napakalaking pressure kasi iba na 'yung labanan nito. Hindi lang po 'to Southeast, hindi lang po ito Asian games," he said about his goal to make it to Tokyo.

"Marami nagsasabi na kaya ko, pero sabi ko, hindi sa panahon palagi na kaya natin eh," he added.

AC, who aced the 400m run and 4x400m relay in the 2013 SEA Games, now maintains his physical conditioning in anticipation of the Paralympic qualifiers.

He said he was inspired to keep going after seeing the dedication of his fellow para-athletes.

"Parang walang imposible sa kanila," he said. "Kung ano 'yung ginagawa ng regular athlete, mas alam mo 'yun, doble pa para para makuha nila 'yung goal nila."

"Hindi sila nag-gi-give up." —MGP, GMA News
