Brandon Moreno calls for rematch with Figueiredo after epic UFC 256 showdown
UFC flyweight contender Brandon Moreno wants to do it one more time with reigning UFC flyweight world champion Deiveson Figueiredo following their epic encounter in the main event of UFC 256 last Sunday at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
In a fight that is now being touted as the best in UFC flyweight history, Figueiredo and Moreno duked it out for five five-minute rounds en route to a majority draw. Happy with his performance but without a belt, Moreno says he wants to run it back with the current champion.
“I want the rematch, I know he wants the rematch because he’s a warrior like me, so we can do it again. I feel weird because I wanted the title. At the same time, I feel so happy because everybody said it was an amazing fight,” said Moreno.
It was announced shortly after the fight that both fighters took home the Fight of the Night bonus of $50,000 as UFC president Dana White himself stated that it was the best flyweight contest he ever saw in the octagon.
Still bruised up from his world title attempt, which happens to be his second fight in 21 days, Moreno plans to spend the holidays with his loved ones for now then worry about the rematch when he recovers.
“I wanted the victory, but it is what it is,” he said.
“I feel happy, I’m healthy, I can go with my family and stay with them, celebrate Christmas, stay with my three kids, with my wife, right now that’s the most important thing for me. — BM, GMA News
