Israel Adesanya challenges for the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 259
Reigning UFC middleweight world champion Israel Adesanya will get a rare chance of becoming a two-division champion when he moves up in weight to challenge UFC light heavyweight world champion Jan Blachowicz.
The pair of mixed martial arts champions are set to duke it out in the main event of UFC 259 on March 6 in a yet to be determined venue according to a report by ESPN.
The 31-year-old Adesanya, who holds a perfect MMA record of 27-0, is coming off a dominant second-round technical knockout over the previously unbeaten Paulo Costa at UFC 253 last September.
Blachowicz (27-8), meanwhile, captured the UFC light heavyweight gold that Jon Jones vacated when he defeated Dominic Reyes via second-round technical knockout in the co-main event of UFC 253. -- BAP, GMA News
