MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko hospitalized due to COVID-19

One of the most celebrated figures in mixed martial arts, Fedor Emelianenko, is currently spending time in the hospital due to COVID-19.

Thankfully the 44-year-old former PRIDE heavyweight champion is in stable condition as he recently thanked his fans on social media for the encouraging words he received while in recovery.

“Thanks to all who are genuinely concerned for my health,” Emelianenko wrote on Instagram as translated by RT Sport.

“I feel fine, I am going into recovery. I’m grateful to the doctors and medical staff for their care and hard work.”

Emelianenko last saw action against former UFC light heavyweight world champion Quinton Jackson in December 2019 where he won by way of first-round technical knockout.

Touted by many as the greatest MMA heavyweight of all time, Bellator MMA head honcho Scott Coker previously stated that they plan to put up a farewell fight for Emelianenko in Russia. – JM Siasat/RC, GMA News
