Omega collapses against RRQ, joins BREN in lower bracket of MLBB World Championship

In a series that set tournament records, Smart Omega Esports got handed a deflating 2-0 loss by RRQ Hoshi to join fellow Filipino representatives BREN Esports in the lower bracket of the MLBB M2 World Championship 2020.

After a nip-and-tuck early game, Omega looked to have gained control of the match at the 10th minute as they established 5k gold lead and a 2-0 exchange but RRQ's Vynnn (Eudora) superbly executed a lord steal to prevent a quick finish by the Filipinos.

It once again looked like Omega's for the taking when they completed a 3-1 exchange in the 21st minute, taking a luminous lord and destroying all of RRQ Hoshi's inhibitor turrets.

But with the game dragging longer, RRQ's line-up composed of strong late-game heroes proved too much for Omega as the Indonesians secured the comeback win in the 34th minute for the longest match in the World Championship so far.

Ironically, what followed in Game 2 was the fastest finish ever recorded in the tournament.

RRQ Hoshi delivered a surprising draft that centered around Alberttt's (Bruno) hyper-carry. Unorthodox as the draft was, the M1 runner-ups looked superb in their aggressive early game with a 3rd minute triple-kill for Albertt that set the tone of what's to come.

Omega could not recover from the early game hiccup as RRQ's hyper-carry rampaged throughout the game, finishing the kill tally at 16-4 in favor of the Indons when the game ended at 10 minutes.

Up next for Omega is a do-or-die match against Indonesia's Alter Ego e-sports on Saturday for the last ticket to the lower bracket finals. —MGP, GMA News
