Blachowicz unbothered with underdog status, believes he will beat Israel Adesanya at UFC 259
UFC light heavyweight world champion Jan Blachowicz is unbothered that oddsmakers see him as an underdog against UFC middleweight world champion Israel Adesanya.
Adesanya is set to move up in weight to challenge Blachowicz for the title in the main event of UFC 259 on March 6 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, USA.
“I’m always the underdog and I always win the fight it’s really nice. I’m happy. I could be the underdog every time,” Blachowicz told MMA Fighting.
“Maybe after this fight when I win this fight, I believe I will win this fight, maybe after this fight, people will start believing in me, respect me and that’s it. But anyway, I don’t care about this.”
Blachowicz (27-8) defied the odds in his last outing when he defeated Dominick Reyes via technical knockout to claim the then vacant UFC light heavyweight title last September.
He acknowledges that Adesanya is a dangerous foe, but just like his previous fights, Blachowicz is convinced that he will have his hand raised on fight night.
“He’s a good fighter, a really good fighter. He’s a champion. Nobody has defeated him,” he said.
“20-0 also so he is good, he has to be good but it’s time for 20-1. I believe that I’m going to be the first one to beat him, and I believe I will do it.” -- BAP, GMA News
